In keeping with our philosophy to endeavor to create an environment in which each child can grow and develop spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially, 2.) In understanding that all young learners are intelligent and learn best in unique ways, and 3.) In understanding that play is the “work” of children and is the primary way that all young learners learn... We have worked to obtain a variety of developmentally appropriate curriculum and curricular practices that will help us achieve educational goals in developmentally appropriate ways. The Christian curricula that the school uses for our different programs are based on the Word of God and differs by class. In the area of reading, writing, language development, math, science and social studies, a combination of D’Nealian, Writing Road to Reading, Heritage Studies, McRuffy, and curriculum that we have personally developed and/or compiled are used. We believe that selecting the best of several different curricula enables us to provide the very best, balanced, mix of curriculum that will enable students with differing intelligences to learn, grow, and develop in ways that are best suited to them. Additionally, we maintain that our balance of traditional curricular practices, coupled with, current industry standards for developmentally appropriate practice, better prepares young learners to be successful in their future academic experiences by gifting them with a love of learning, exposing them to direct instructional methods, and teaching them how to function well in a school environment. Please view our curriculum page for additional information and an annual curricular overview for our specific classes. | |
